Detailed Node Processing of Geomembrane in Engineering Application

In engineering, the use of high-quality geomembrane is naturally the basis of a good project, but if the construction specifications are not strictly enforced, in order to save the trouble and miss the details, it will also cause great damage to the project.

1. Anchor node processing
HDPE geomembrane can be buried in anchor trenches in projects such as landfills, artificial lakes, and canals. Anchor grooves are mostly rectangular in shape (Figure 1), and there are also inverted triangles. The size of the anchoring ditch is usually 400 ~ 500mm wide and 500 ~ 600mm deep. After the HDPE geomembrane is buried in the trench, it is generally rammed and filled with raw soil, and the compactness is required to be above 90%, and some are backfilled with concrete. Either way, make sure that the friction generated by the gravity of the backfill is sufficient to resist the tensile force of the HDPE environmental geomembrane for sale.

2. Node treatment of membrane tube (column)
In engineering construction, it is unavoidable to encounter the situation where the pipe (column) passes through the HDPE geomembrane. In order to make the connection tight and reliable, the pre-buried nozzle is required to extend at least 300mm, and the non-concrete base engineering requires that plain concrete with a thickness of 150mm, a side length or a diameter of 2000mm be poured around the nozzle in order to handle the connection structure. The nozzle is connected to the membrane surface by a pipe shoe. The pipe shoe is composed of a pipe sleeve and a skirt, and is made on the spot with HDPE geomembrane. For HDPE pipes, the pipe sleeve can be directly welded to the pipe; for pipes of other materials, they need to be fixed by means of snap rings, etc., and then sealed.

3. Closing node processing
HDPE geomembrane is usually fixed by shooting nails or anchor bolts with metal gaskets on the concrete base surface of flat or inclined plane. If necessary, it should be fixed by long flat steel or angle steel. According to special needs, auxiliary anti-seepage treatment can be performed under the film to ensure the tightness of the seal. At the same time, anti-rust treatment or anti-contracting measures should be taken for metal parts. When sealing or fixing is required on a vertical or inclined wall, it is required to leave a 100mm * 200mm slot or 100mm * 120mm eaves during civil construction to facilitate the impermeable layer. After fixing with nails and flat steel, seal with sealing material, and then protect with wire mesh cement or fine stone concrete. Another type of anchoring is to embed the HDPE lock bar on the concrete base, and only need to weld the HDPE geomembrane directly to the lock bar during construction (Figure 3). This method has a simple structure, convenient installation, and reliable quality, but the cost is relatively high.

4. Other
In the construction of buildings and tunnels, HDPE geomembrane produced by environmental geomembrane manufacturers should be leak-blocked and drained before construction: for concrete bases with only slightly wet stains, polymer mortar can be used for treatment; For points and lines, water should be introduced into the drainage ditch using buried pipe drainage.

5. Conclusion
Often in many projects, the rigorous construction at these details is ignored, leading to leakage at the end and the failure of the entire project. Therefore, in addition to the use of high-quality imported geomembrane, any construction unit must strictly control and follow the construction specifications in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the entire project.
