The choice of geomembrane thickness should meet the requirements of construction and calculation
Composite geomembrane is a composite product of geomembrane and geotextile (mostly non-woven needle-punched geotextile). Through the design and construction practice of anti-seepage engineering in recent years, composite geomembrane has broad prospects and promotion value in dam anti-seepage. Vigorously promoting new materials, new equipment, and new processes, and increasing the scientific and technological content of water conservancy projects are not only an important method to improve project quality, but also an effective way to reduce project investment.
At present, the application scale of composite geomembrane in my country’s water conservancy construction is expanding. How to use geomembrane correctly, well, and accurately also requires continuous practice and research. Therefore, the following suggestions are made:
1. Take the relevant national standards as a design basis and do a good job of surveying, surveying, and investigating before engineering design. The data required in the design should be subject to the test and measurement results.
2. For different stratum, the selection of geomembrane thickness should meet the requirements of construction and calculation. The application of geomembrane thickness specified in the code in low-head water-retaining buildings needs to be further explored.
3. Composite geomembrane anti-seepage is a new material and new technology, and the anti-seepage project is a concealed project. It requires a construction team with a strong sense of responsibility, high-quality awareness, and well-trained construction.
4. Attention should be paid to exploring various performance changes of composite geomembrane caused by load changes in actual use to improve design quality.
